Newport Cemetery District Map

The map shown here displays the six abutting cemeteries that make up Newport’s Cemetery District. Note that Island Cemetery incudes the Van Zandt Avenue Annex and Friends Cemetery.

Island Cemetery

The 1925 map of the main cemetery was digitized from a 4’ x 6’ fabric-like original found in the Administration Building on Warner Street in the Island Cemetery. The names on all of the historical maps identify lot owners, not the deceased buried in the lot. Click below to enlarge or download it.

Island Cemetery Annex

The 1934 map of the Island Cemetery Annex on Van Zandt Avenue is depicted in the map below. Click below to enlarge or download the map.

Friends Cemetery

Friends Cemetery, bounded by Tilden Avenue, Edward Street, White Street and Feke Street, originally the Quaker cemetery, was deeded to the Island Cemetery in 1932 by the Society of Friends. Click below to enlarge or download it.
