Experience the Belmont Stakes
in Historic Newport Style
Named for August Belmont, the Belmont Stakes has always symbolized more than horse racing. It represents the grandeur and ambition of the Gilded Age—the very world that shaped Newport’s cultural landscape and many of the families memorialized within Island Cemetery.
This year’s race, to be held at the Saratoga Race Course as Belmont Park undergoes a period of restoration and renewal, mirrors the restoration preservation efforts currently underway at Island Cemetery, where historic landscapes, monuments, and architectural features are being carefully restored for future generations.
Guests are invited not only to enjoy the excitement and spectacle of the race, but also to experience it in an historic environment that links Newport to the Gilded Age.
Long shot Kentucky Derby 2026 winner Golden Tempo is scheduled to compete in the Belmont Stakes along with Renegade his runner-up, and Napoleon Solo, winner of the Preakness 151!
