JD Hunter Concert

from $65.00

JD Hunter is a violinist, performance artist, composer, arranger, studio musician and producer, under the pseudonym QWEENJD, breathing High Art Classical Realness into every performance space and collaboration they enter. A graduate of New England Conservatory of Music and three-time Tanglewood Music Center Fellow, their collaborators represent a wide range of artists from Hamed Sinno to G-Eazy and Yo-Yo Ma. They've performed in venues all over the country including the Los Angeles Dolby Theater with The Rock Orchestra, Radio City Music Hall with The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular and Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall with Jinkx Monsoon. They've also performed in Broadway orchestra pits with Sweeney Todd, The Notebook, The Great Gatsby, 1776 and as concertmaster of Disney's Aladdin the Broadway Musical First National Tour.

Their upcoming debut EP, Beyond Recitation, showcases their skills as writer, arranger, producer, mixer, singer and violinist, meticulously deconstructing genre and category—-from interpretation to interpolation, sample, cover, remix, setting, arrangement, and original song—-in an experimental re-working of the canon to tell a very personal story.

In tonight's performance at Belmont Chapel they return to the source: RESONANCE. Improvising, looping, vocalizing and meditating on a tonal framework of music by Bach and Respighi, JD invites their audience into the resonant liminal space between practice, process and performance.
